I have a love/hate relationship with watches. I love them because they are so effortlessly cool, a little piece of functional individuality worn on your wrist for all to see. But watches are a constant reminder of how quickly time flies.
I don’t know if it’s because that now I’m a mum, I can almost see my children grow before my eyes. Some mornings Millie’s pants are too short and I swear she only wore them the week before. Finn is now moving into crawler-sized nappies when it feels like only yesterday I was in hospital holding him as a newborn.
Time is the greatest thief – but also a reminder that every minute is precious. When I look down at my watch I smile because it helps me remember not to waste a single minute. I want to make sure I make the most of this time with my babies because I know I’ll blink and be waving them goodbye every morning at the school gate.
I have started wearing an amazing sustainable Jord wood watch. It’s from the Frankie series and is made of zebrawood with a navy face. Native to West Africa, the zebrawood has a striking grain contrast and it’s naturally beautiful. The chunky round face and slim strap is perfect for me – I love a big watch – and the wood pairs well with any outfit or other pieces of jewellery. I have a tan leather bag I bought from travels in Mexico and when carried while wearing this watch couldn’t be more perfect to finish off my outfit.
The watch is so gorgeously light to wear and seeing as I’m in jeans 98 per cent of the time (#mumlife), the elegant navy face works really well with denim.
I’m so thrilled with the look and the quality of my new watch. Handcrafted, sustainable and unique, it’s my favourite thing right now.
The wood watches have Swiss movement and sapphire glass on the face for transparency and durability and Jord offers free shipping to Australia.
